Sunday’s are predictable and that is not bad. At ” Washed by the Word ” there is praise and worship, announcements, then expository teaching verse by verse, book by book. There are no frills, no topical sermons, no guest speakers, no videos.
This Sunday we are serenaded by singers from a Berean Baptist congregation who have been given use of our church to hold their own services. They are singing for us, these ladies and men from Africa who have come to America of their own volition.
It is okay not to understand the lyrics. Their voices are in tune, dynamic, the rhythms not of this continent, the hopeful cheer endearing.
When they are done, one of their congregation, who speaks English, thanks us.
Hospitality costs little and goes far.
Christianity belongs to the world and anyone who wants to embrace it.
